We do not have a CT scanner at Vasant Kunj, and we would rather say so. Your scan is booked at one of our partner imaging centres across Delhi NCR — chosen for the machine, the radiologist and how quickly the report comes back.
What we do is the part that usually goes wrong. We tell you the price before you go, we book the slot, and the report comes back to a doctor here who has your history in front of them. A scan read by someone who has never met you is worth less than the same scan read by someone who has.

Most CT scans need very little preparation. These are the things worth knowing.

Bring the prescription
The centre needs your doctor's request to know which scan to do and whether contrast is needed.

Fasting
Only for scans with contrast, and usually four hours. A plain CT brain needs no fasting at all.

Tell us about kidney problems
If contrast is planned and you have kidney disease or diabetes, your doctor may want a blood test first. Say so when you book.

Tell us if you might be pregnant
A CT uses X-rays. If there is any chance you are pregnant, tell the centre before the scan, not after.

It is quicker than you think
A plain CT brain takes about five to ten minutes on the table. Allow longer for contrast studies and for waiting.
A CT uses X-rays, so it does carry a small radiation dose — more than a chest X-ray, far less than people usually fear. The honest answer is that it is worth doing when a doctor has asked for it, and not worth doing when nobody has.
Why we ask for a prescription
If you are pregnant
We will not book a CT without your doctor's request. Not because of paperwork, but because the scan is only worth the dose when there is a question it can answer.
Tell us and tell the centre. There are often other ways to get the same answer, and your doctor can decide which.
What does a CT scan cost?
From ₹2,000 for a plain CT brain, ₹2,800 for chest or abdomen, and ₹5,600 for a whole abdomen. Contrast, if your doctor has asked for it, is ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 on top. We confirm the exact figure before booking.
