Check the qualification. MBBS alone is not an ENT specialist. Look for MS (ENT) or DNB (ENT) — a three-year postgraduate specialisation in otorhinolaryngology. Ask for the State Medical Council registration number; it can be verified on the National Medical Commission register.
How to choose an ENT specialist
Ask how ear wax is removed. Microsuction under direct vision is the safer method and works where syringing cannot. Syringing with water is not appropriate for a perforated eardrum.
