Ear candling

The AAO-HNS guideline explicitly recommends against ear candling for treating or preventing cerumen impaction. It does not work — the residue in the candle after burning is candle wax, not ear wax — and it carries real risk of burns to the face and canal, and of hot wax perforating the eardrum. Avoid it entirely.
